Technology

To create my product I used many different forms of technology. One of these being Google, this was used to research pre exiting magazines for inspiration and identifying the conventions. The advantage of being able to research magazines on google as it meant it was not essential for me to purchase the magazines in store. This was a cheep and more effective way of carrying out my market research. Secondly, I used Servery Monkey to gather research and work out who my target audience were so I could produce a product most suitable for them. Servey Monkey was very helpful for my course work as it allowed me to electronically send out my surveys without having to gather the information and results, in addition the results were organised enabling me to identify the overall outcome of each question easily. Thirdly, I used the Adobe software 'InDesign' this was very useful as

Who Is The Target Audience For your Product?

https://prezi.com/qrxr3tea7ylu/my-target/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy I have appealed to my target audience by pricing my magazine at £2.50, I believe that this is a suitable price for the age range of my target audience. This is due to them being teenagers and not have a stable income where they can afford to spend £4-5 on a magazine. Secondly, by including artists names in the cover features that relate to my target audiences preferences. An example of this would be give a ways,on the front cover I have included the opportunity to win a Reading and Leeds ticket. In addition to this feature being a give away I have created it taking in consideration of my target audiences music taste. By offering this festival the typical genre of music played is similar to the audiences favourite artists, making the magazine appeal to them more so than another music magazine. This was also essential as my audience are not regular magazine buyers and wanted to see something new and that...

Evaluation - Question Two

How does your media product represent particular social groups? My media product represents the younger youth to be a determined hard working generation, this representation is presented through the use of text on the front cover and within the article located on the double page spread, this text implies that the two models in the photographs are part of a duo band and have been trying to get established for a very long time and believe that they are finally starting to succeed after a long challenging journey, “Harolds return to the duo has resulted in our determination for success”. In addition to text, i believe that the facial expressions of the young models are very serious and intense, this is due to the direct mode of address with the audience, these facial expressions suggest a sense of fearlessness and they appear very intimidating. furthermore, the expressions portray focus because of the wide eye stare, this also suggests determination as they are looking forward.

Evaluation- Questions One

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? There are many elements to my product that convey generic conventions of existing music magazines, in order to make my product authentic i researched current magazines such as ‘Q Magazine’ and many others to pick out reoccurring features.  Firstly i believe that my product fits the conventions of music magazine and i have achieved a realistic product, one of the ways i have done this is by including consistent branding throughout. I have branded my product by using the masthead on the contents page and on the double page spreads, this keeps consistency and makes a clear connection between the cover, contents page and double page spread. In addition to using the mast head to brand my product i have also used a colour scheme to create another visual link between the three separate pages, this is very conventional of magazines to choose three colours and present these ...
