The Beginning Of Something.
For this article we present to you an interview with the break through duo, discovering the ins and outs of their lives and career paths. Both Harold Gambril and Harold Mason share the intricate detail of T-One and its formation, the tough times and the highs.
What are your ambitions for the feauture?
We are un certain of our future, but we do plan on releasing many more albums, this is just the begginging...
What artist/ artists inspired you the most when growing up?
Well, i’ve taken inspiration from many artists throught my teenage years but i’d say by far Van Mccann from the band Catfish And The Bottlemen has inspired me the most to keep going untill T-one was noticed and we were in a position where other generations looked up to us. But yes, Catfish And The Bottlemen, oh what a legendary band it is. To this day i still find myself playing their album ‘The Balcony’ like its 2014 and I'm 15 years old again. I always admired Vans perseverance and carefree attitude, in every interview he ever did he’d always talk about how he was not going to stop at anything until he achieved success, he was extremely optimistic and never doubted any of the band, this clearly was a good attitude to have, i mean look at him now... one of the best musicians ever in my opinion.
- Harold Mason.
Have you always been a duo?
Origionally during our seconary school education i helped start a band of 5 members, we were all very close and dedicated as much time as we could, however, once we hit sixth form A-levels took their toll on us all and the band began to split. Depite this, after many months of exams we always tried to get together and orginise small performances for events such as Children In Need, although this kept us together for a while longer some of the members found passions for other things and we were all very supportive of this and let them go study at university without any grudges held. Anyway, overtime the band got smaller and smaller, until it was just myself and Harry, the T-One duo. The Van Mccann inside of us told us to keep trying, and yes admittedly we felt like giving up, but nothing was more inspiring than listening to the ‘The Ride ‘ tour (2016) live from The Royal & Durngate, from that night we began writing and recording our first ever album, The Beginning Of Something. Unfortunately, half way through This put a hault to our entire music career, however, just a few moths ago he made a miraculous recovery meaning that we were able to continue writing. Personally i find this hurdle made some of our later tracks on the album more powerful as they have a sense of determination within.
