Photo Shoot Planning

Image
Planning.  Image One: For my first image I am going to photograph a male band, this will be the band T-One. The models for the band will hold props that represent them individually and their role in the band, I have chosen to do this as it is conventional of bands to do so when staring in music magazines. I have looked at an old magazine that uses an image of The Beatles where they’re holding their instrument (props) to re enforce their role in the band and so that they can be recognised, for example I know that the male in the bottom centre is the as the drummer as a result of him holding a drum stick set prop. This has insipid my first image therefore I will give each individual a prop to represent their role in the band. I will position my models in a unified way, this meaning that all members will be stood close together to show a bond within the band, this is due to it being another convention that I discovered when researching the alternative genre magazines and other maga...

My Target Market - Prezi Presentation link

This presentation displays a summary of my results and what i have established about my target market and what they want from the music magazine i am going to be creating.

Representation of an artist

Image
The artist/ model Eminem is wearing a vest as part of his costume, by wearing a vest this exposes the artists 'sleeve' tattoos. This represents the artist as being rebellious as tattoo once were stereotypically associated with people who rebelled against rules, however in contrast to this one of the models main props is a necklace that is a religious cross, the effect of this is that it offers the viewer a different perception of Eminem suggesting he is a religious man who obeys the law and follows rules, this would also represent him as a kind giving person due to religions conventionally implicating views about helping others and being a good person. Therefore, this would contrast and go against the first impression of the model, he is playing with stereotypes and representation at first glance. Secondly, the models body language represents him as being intimidating and challenging, the opposite to the conventional inviting language often displayed on magazine front cover...

Questionnaire With Result Charts

Image
below are the results that i gathered from my Survey Monkey questionnaire, once i created the questionnaire i emailed it out to 16-20 people however, i only received five responses. As a consequence of time restrictions and deadlines i was unable to wait for more responses therefore had to make to with the responses i did receive, ideally this is not solid and helpful research and if i were to be creating a proper magazine that would be sold to the public i would ensure that i gathered for responses and sent the survey out to more people to increase the chance of having enough replies.

A conventional magazine follows the ‘Left Side third’ rule: This is where the most Important information is located on the left side as it is stereo typically the first place we look as we read from the left to the right, top to bottom. In this cases the main article/ headline is located on the top right adjacent to the masthead making these the most important.    Conventionally well-known magazines that are established the masthead is often overlaid by the model however not always.  For newer magazines the masthead tends to be completely visible to help with branding due to this ‘Q’ magazine ( an established magazine brand) . The barcode is located on the bottom left this is so little attention is drawn to it as it is the last thing you’ll see. The artists photograph is typically either central or off to the right to allow room for the most important articles to sit on the left hand side. The main article in this issue of ‘Q’ magazine is in the t...

What I Learnt From Creating A Draft And Re-Draft

I have taken/ learnt many things as a result of creating a draft magazine cover and contents page through research and the physical process.  One of which being conventions of magazines and how they bran them, I discovered that many magazines use the masthead from the front cover and continue it onto the contents page and editorial notes page, at the bringing of the task I did not notice that this was a key convention of magazines however, I now know that this is essential to magazines branding strategies therefore I decided to include my masthead onto the contents page and editors. Another convention I learnt when I began this task is that all well branded magazines stick to using only three to four colours and the same for fonts, using this convention for my own magazine I found that this allowed be to create a much more successful and realistic magazine, also it made it easier to create the content and editors page as they could be linked through the use of colours and fonts. ...

Strengths And Weakenesses Of My Magazine Cover

Strengths and Weaknesses. There are many strengths and weaknesses to the magazine cover I have attempted to create, the magazines ambition is to achieve a conventional school or college magazine issue with an accompanying content page. I believe that i have managed to do this relatively successfully, and example of my success is that i have incorporated many conventional cover features one of which being the colour scheme, for the colour scheme i have used only 3-4 colours. This is very stereotypical and conventional of magazine covers to choose no more than four main colours and continue this scheme thought the magazine. For my cover i managed to stick to this convention as i only incorporated three colours for the fonts and background of the image; these being Grey, white and mustard yellow. Sticking to this convention allows my overall magazine cover and contents appear more professional and legitimate, in addition it shows a clear link between the cover and contents ( an overall ...
